Physical Activity

The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – Chief Medical Officers guidelines recommend that primary school pupils undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school.

MKSSP has a 3 pronged approach to developing physical activity within primary schools:

Active play and lunchtimes - Research shows that a structured physical activity programme, whilst having the obvious health benefits, also reduces incidences of poor behaviour during breaks and increases productivity after within lessons. MKSSP offers resources and training to support the development of physical activity at lunchtimes.

Mile a day - Milton’s Mile ! In MK we are helping schools develop a mile a day programme for all chn, including information on how to organise, monitor and reward children who take part.

Active Classrooms - MKSSP has developed many resources aimed at getting children learning in a fun and active way. This could simply be in the form of an “active” break at their desks to refresh and invigorate mind and body OR an active approach to teaching maths and english. The results of all types of activities are the same: more motivated and engaged learners.
